Specialty Coffee is so much more than just a drink - it's an experience.
According to the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), specialty coffee is the highest grade of coffee beans, with a minimum score of 80+ points on the Specialty Coffee Association scale. These beans undergo a strict process of evaluation by Q-graders, who assess aroma, taste, acidity, body, and balance to ensure they meet the highest standards.

is hand-picked at it's peak ripeness for maximum flavor
generally contains 0-5 minor defects per 350g (commercial coffee allows dozens)
is typically small batch roasted allowing preservation of its' natural complexity

October Coffee of the Month - Kenya Nyeri Gura Peaberry
Grower: Approximately 500 producers organized around the Gura Factory
This vibrant peaberry coffee is a true gem, produced by around 500 smallholder farmers at the renowned Gura Factory in Kenya's Nyeri County. Grown at altitudes of 1,700 to 1,800 meters in nutrient-rich volcanic soil, it features beloved varieties like SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian.
Expect a delightful flavor journey with juicy blackberry and kiwi leading to sweet ripe mango, mint notes, and a bright, white wine-like finish. The meticulous process at Gura Factory—fermentation, washing, sorting, and gentle drying—results in the clarity and vibrant acidity characteristic of high-elevation Kenyan coffees.
Peaberries, formed when a cherry has a single rounded seed, are cherished for their concentrated flavor. Enjoy the unique experience of each cup!
